3 little kittens

This story was always a favorite of my siblings and I...and these days,Sergei, Tesla and Milo are becoming quite keen on it themselves.

As their imaginations bloom, stories like this often inspire bouts of pretend play.

Therefore this afternoon became a time for messy meows and sloppily lapping milk from saucers.

Learning to Crochet...Part 1

So, it's been a while since my terribly terrific friend Jess took me on as her student in the art of crochet.
Like... months and months. I believe it was last October in fact, that we hit upa fabulous yarn
sale, i bought meself a sweet little rainbow of
hooks, this here book to inspire me, and we had a lesson.

She was a great teacher and i believe i kinda sorta maybe had it...
then we decided to add a bottle of wine and the chit chat that usually goes along with that, to the lesson.

I'm pretty sure this is when i lost my flow.
At any rate, i'm back in the game now, and determined to succeed.

I badly want to crochet myself a bikini and the red cowgirl hat shown on this here cover (*said with southern drawl of course)

But for now i am practicing single crochet only, in an attempt to perfect my tension skills.
So... i may get a dishcloth out of it, if i'm lucky.

as the yarn patiently awaits it's destiny...

You can bury a lot of troubles, diggin' in the dirt. ~Author Unknown

My first true gardening experience.
I've had a tomato plant here, some cucumbers there, but never done the complete, from seed, enrich the soil, actually atted to your plants kind of gardening. Suppose it just didnt fit in with the flamboyantly libertine lifestyle of my early twenties. Ai ai ai...
Nevertheless...here i am. Dirty hands and lovin'it.

Roughly 2.5 months ago i'd say, i jumped head first into a 30 ft x 25 ft garden plot*
with my "everything bout organic gardening" book clutched to my chest, a set of pink handled, dollar bin garden tools in my belt, i dug in.
what an adventure it has been.

*took me well over a month and a pick up truck full of poop,to transform from the THICK, DEEP weedy mass it started as*

dill

beans

...wiley pumpkin plant...creep,creep, creepin' out of the plot...think it's headed for the kids' clubhouse...

a rainbow of chard

lovers amoungst the corn

a strand of grape tomatoes a bit reminiscent of Wilma Flintstones primitive jewelery

corn hairdo

and yes.
i am aware that my tomatoes are completely and utterly out of control.
it is all a learning experience, you see?
